WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE SOUTHWESTERN AMATEUR The longest running amateur golf tournament in the Western United States 2010 will mark the 95th Annual Southwestern Amateur conducted by the Southwestern Golf Association |
| ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS |
|
The Committee will again utilize our "Exempt Entry" priority player list for this year's Southwestern Amateur and has reserved a minimum of 75 of the 144 spots in the field for "PLAYERS WITH EXEMPT STATUS." Players with exempt status may either register online by completing the entry form and making payment by credit card or by submitting the entry form by mail and making payment by check made payable to the "Southwestern Golf Association." All players not having exempt status MUST register in writing by mail. Non-exempt entries MUST contain entry form, players resume, and payment by check or money order for entry. Entries not accepted will be returned or destroyed by the Committee of the Southwestern Golf Association at the conclusion of the event. The balance of the field after exempt entries will be filled with the best qualified amateur golfers based on the current amateur and junior rankings, verifiable tournament accomplishments, and entrants with the lowest verifiable USGA Handicap Indexes. The maximum USGA Handicap Index allowed to apply may not exceed 1.2. Indexes will be verified and must conform to current USGA or R&A guidelines relative to posting of scores and being a member of a licensed club. The Committee reserves the right to invite amateurs of national and international reputation, as well as other amateurs "of note" to enter into the Southwestern Amateur. Golf resumes of accomplishment in major tournaments and other competitive records, as well as past participation in the Southwestern Amateur, will also be taken into consideration. All qualified players are encouraged to apply regardless of the number of "Exempt Entry" titles noted, as some of these players will qualify under more than one title, have turned professional or due to schedule conflicts may not seek exempt status. Invited contestants may carry their own bag, provide their own caddy or rent a cart. Each contestant will receive tee gifts, and those returning a 72-hole score are EXEMPT into the 96th Southwestern Amateur to be held in June 2011. |
| ENTRY DEADLINES | |
| Exempt Status | Friday, April 23, 2010 "Exempt Status" players that do not submit their entry by this deadline will then be considered as applying under "non-exempt" criteria or become the first alternate after "Exempt" players withdraw. |
